- This school year, I can commit to having my students be leaders who persevere who can demonstrate creativity and effective communication. Teaching students to be empathetic and become adaptable is a bit difficult to imbed in my class. However, I have set an expectation for students to become technology, multicultural and globally aware of various resources to communicate with leaders from other classrooms via Skype and connecting the culture of our school at Riverview that values all cultures and languages, especially English, Spanish and Mandarin.
- I will be able to measure the implementation of these essential skills through formal assessments in the classroom. For example, the use of accountable talk will ensure students are using effective communication. Each student at Riverview Elementary School has a leadership role, so my students must ensure they meet their responsibilities each day. Students are asked various questions and one form of perseverance is the method of Design Thinking. Design Thinking allows students to understand, create and deliver their ideas by solving a problem by creating a prototype.
