Last year, I was able to individualize and meet the needs of my students, whose parents fortunately had the opportunity to access the internet on their personal devices. This opportunity and support allowed me to share information that would scaffold the student's learning with parents and other colleagues.
In addition, I was able to explore the process of Design Thinking which allowed the students to explore their own learning and closely related to the Next Generation Science Standards. My students created a solar panel oven to heat their snacks and share their insight with the peers in other grade levels. The experience allowed them to share their discovery with a selective audience.
The unlearning/relearning idea that I might need more development on would be becoming a master learner in the case stated "the world doesn't care what you know. What the world cares about is what you can do with what you know." Any individual can read and learn various topic, but a true master learner utilizes the knowledge and builds a foundation to share his/her learning to make our society or world a better place. My goal would be to ignite the intrinsic yearning to further deepen their understand and continue to explore.
